With its inception in July 1995, the agency started providing Arkansas Better Chance center-based preschool program to children (ages 3 to 5) and their families at Bearden, Magnolia, Strong, and Taylor. With the added granteeship of Head Start in 1996, and Early Head Start in 1999, a wide array of program options opened up to serve the low-income, disadvantaged families of our five county service area. Through competitive applications, the additional Arkansas Better Chance for School Success (ABCSS) program classrooms were added in the fall of 2004 in El Dorado and Camden. In 2014, F.A.C.T, Inc’s service area extended into Bradley, Lafayette, and Nevada counties. Many of our staff have tenure exceeding 10 years, as they were employees with the former Head Start and ABC grantee.
Services are provided for 969 children. We operate 21 preschool centers (65 classrooms) and 5 home-based programs.
In accordance with federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.
Families and Children Together, Inc. (F.A.C.T., Inc.) is a single purpose, private non-profit organization. Established in 1995, F.A.C.T., Inc. was designated as a Head Start grantee on July 1, 1996 and subsequently awarded Arkansas Better Chance (ABC) funding. In 1999, an award was granted to operate an Early Head Start option. In 2009 we further expanded the Early Head Start program. With this added option, a seamless stream of services for children birth to five became a reality. Through competitive applications, the Head Start services expanded to include three additional counties in 2014. The agency provides preschool services in Calhoun, Columbia, Dallas, Hempstead, Lafayette, Nevada, Ouachita, and Union Counties.
